I have posted elsewhere in this forum about shale oil problems being rooted in the ultra low permeability (ability for fluids to flow through porous rock in this case) and the attached article makes reference to shale oil production rates declining by fifty percent next year, a direct result of the low permeability. Shale petroleum production companies are in financial trouble and have not made money, all rooted in the fact that shale rock will perform miserably compared to conventional reservoirs.

This is a very revealing article about shale formation oil production and its very high steep rate. Note in the graph that wells drilled and completed in 2018 actually produced in December less BOPD than their peak. The graph is taken from this linked article:
